In case you haven’t heard, Medicare recently changed its reimbursement policy for physical, occupational, and speech therapy in senior living communities.
The changes have caused a lot of senior living providers, who partner with external physical therapy agencies, to cut down on their residents’ 1:1 therapy sessions. Many families of seniors who have had their 1:1 physical therapy sessions dashed, or have been placed into group therapy sessions out of necessity, feel frustrated and worried about how the changes will impact their loved ones’ well-being.
One silver lining of Medicare’s less-than-optimal changes to third-party physical therapy providers in senior living communities, is that The Hearth can help.
We’re proud to house, on-site, full-service therapy teams in each of our communities. Our physical therapy teams work directly with out Wellness Aides to develop personalized treatment plans, focused on each resident’s individual therapy goals.
Since we include physical therapy as part of the Hearth experience, as opposed to billing it separately through a third party, our residents will continue to receive the 24/7 on-site care that they deserve, regardless of Medicare’s recent changes.
